Location: Milton High School, 25 Gile Road, Milton

This day of Bible teaching by Fred Faller is one you don’t want to miss! Prepare to have this extraordinary sermon of Jesus come alive like never before!

“I attended Fred’s class at the European Bible School last fall. I have read much about the Sermon on the Mount and have heard much preaching and teaching about it. Fred’s class was simply stunning! The clarity with which he explained Jesus’ teachings, the deep understanding that he gained from his studies, and his own personal responses to Jesus’ challenges to all of us was truly life-changing for me. I left that class with more faith about Jesus’ amazing teaching and with deeper convictions for me to obey. This is a “must attend” for any disciple who wants to be inspired and convicted by Jesus’ most important sermon.” Shawn Wooten

“Over the last 25 years I have attended many Bible Jubilees, teaching weekends, and other various types of training. I hate to confess that there have been times that after it was over I did not re-dig into my notes from those times. Fred did such an amazing job bringing to life what the Sermon on the Mount is all about! It was fun having my eyes opened, heart challenged and mind stirred to what Jesus preached. The teaching gave me tons of additional quiet times. I have continued to use those notes to this day because they were so rich with application from the Sermon. Seeing it and hearing “live” is much better than just reading on your own.” Joe Silipo

How should you prepare for the day’s teaching?

Read the Sermon on the Mount three times through in four different translations. If you don’t have four different versions, visit www.biblegateway.com  to find what you are looking for .

Now that I have read it several times I have a few questions. How can I get them addressed?

Please post your questions by clicking on this Online Survey . This will help Fred prepare effectively and give better insight into questions you would like answered.

Young Marrieds Retreat 2010
By Bryan Gray
03/01/10

youngmarriedsretreat-couples1.gifFor the first time the Boston Church decided to organize our marriage retreats around life stages (Young Marrieds, Prime Timers and Empty Nesters).  Over the Valentines Day weekend young marrieds, in age (20’s & 30’s), or in length of marriage (-10 yrs), or in age of children (-10 yrs old), and even a few who just felt young in heart, descended on Nashua, NH for the first retreat of the year “Love & Respect”.  And it was an overwhelming success!!!

There was a tangible energy Saturday afternoon at the Courtyard Marriott just across the New Hampshire/ Massachusetts border line.  Glenn Petruzzi and Howard Kellogg began by leading the young marrieds in lively worship.  Afterwards, we all settled in with a laughter filled ice breaker that showed just how much we all still need to learn about our spouses.

Here is an update on some of the highlights and activites of the 2009 Seasons of Service
Harvest Walk
On October 4th, 1600 volunteers gathered at Franklin Park to join in the annual 5K Walk/Run for HOPE worldwide and the programs it supports—locally, nationally and around the globe. $60,000 was raised through this effort.
Thanksgiving Food Drives
Throughout the Boston Area, volunteers donated food and turkeys to needy families. On the North Shore and from the Merrimack Valley areas, over 120 families  were provided with Thanksgiving meals and $2800 was raised to purchase much needed food through the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. Volunteers South of Boston helped serve 545 people at soup kitchens. The Framingham Food Pantry provided food for Thanksgiving to 320 families and were recently awarded a grant of $20,000 to buy needed food items.
Christmas Gifts and Parties
For many years the volunteers from the Boston Church of Christ have partnered with the MA Department of Children and Families to provide gifts and parties for children and teens. This year, foster children in the following areas will have a happy holiday because of hundreds of donations by disciples:
75 foster children cared for through DCF Brockton.
110 foster teens from Lowell & Lawrence will be hosted at a holiday party in partnership with the Haverhill & Lowell DCF.
75 children will be sponsored by the South/S. Central Region of the church.
The church has given a grant to support a holiday lunch for families who are adopting foster children through DCF.
50 children will be helped during the holidays through Casa Iris and the Spanish Region.
50—100 children connected with the MA Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children in Lowell will receive Christmas gifts.
Foster children in the Framingham area will receive gifts through the annual toy drive for DCF.
Outrageous Fundraising
24 Adventurous disciples and friends played basketball for 24 continuous hours and raised $24,000 for the Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE in Cambodia. This was a new event and we hope to see similar “extreme” fundraising events in 2010.
# 1 Partner
HOPE worldwide and the volunteers from the Boston Church of Christ have been recognized as the American Red Cross #1 Partner of the Year. During MLK Day weekend in January of this year, disciples took part in distributing fire prevention information to over 26,000 homes in the greater Boston area. Home fires remain the #1 disaster in the US and the ARC has been very thankful for our support each year, which has set the pace for the rest of the nation.

MLK Day Celebration
Scholarships for Servants
2009 saw the initiation of a scholarship program to benefit high school seniors in foster care and one senior disciple from the church. Zoe and Mack Strong awarded the 4 scholarships to winners of an essay contest on the topic, “How can I Serve”, based on Dr. King’s statement “Everybody can be great because everybody can serve” and Jesus’ teaching in Mark 10.

The Radiant Church - 2010 Boston Church Theme
By Jeanie Shaw

“The Radiant Church” will be the focus for the Boston Church in 2010. The staff has been praying for and dreaming of God’s plans for the church this year. Together we will be studying several books of the Bible, beginning with Colossians.  In addition, the all church events, the midweeks and other special events for the entire year are planned.  We are hoping that this will enhance our unity and help us all feel a part of what God is doing in the Boston Church.

Many of these plans were presented at the Family Group Leaders’ Workshop in December. (Click here to listen to these inspiring messages)  The leadership also spent time developing a colorful church calendar that is being handed out at our various services and midweeks.  If you missed it, please see your region leader, or you may download a PDF version of the 2010 Boston Church calendar herepdf 2010_boston_church_calendar. A special thank you goes out to Terry Folker, Mark Buchholz and Vanessa Embling for all the work associated with this project!

We look forward to seeing God work through our lives this year and always. We pray that God will be glorified as he presents the church to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. (Eph. 5:27)
